HAMMOND, La. – After dropping a hard-fought match to Sam Houston in five sets Monday, Southeastern Louisiana looks to bounce back with a pair of Southland Conference matches on the road.
The Lady Lions (3-3, 1-2 Southland) travel to Natchitoches, Louisiana for 6:30 p.m. match Thursday at Northwestern State (2-3, 0-3 Southland) followed by a 1 p.m. match Saturday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (5-1, 3-1 Southland). Live stats and streaming video are available for both contests.
Southeastern is led on offense by
Kailin Newsome (3.63 kills per set),
Ryan Maddera (2.13 p/set),
Karlee Wilkerson (2.04 p/set) and
Sam Gomez (1.92 p/set).
Calli Collins (5.79 assists per set) and
Ariana Hebert (3.83 a/set) direct the Lady Lions' 6- 2 system from the setter position.
Gomez (0.88 blocks per set) and
Crispin Adams (0.75 b/set), the reigning Southland Offensive Player of the Week, lead Southeastern's frontline defense at the net, while
Ansley Tullis (3.96 digs per set),
Lizzy Low (3.00 d/set) and Newsome (2.21 d/set) lend support along the end line.
Northwestern State has dropped three consecutive matches, including a sweep Tuesday at the hands of Lamar.
Breanna Burrell (2.63 k/set) and Darria Williams (1.88 k/set) are the Lady Demons' top attackers. Ragan Ward (4.63 a/set) and Autumn Gentry (3.31 a/set) share setting duties. Ward and Haley Hoang have each recorded 10 service aces.
Averaging 2.44 blocks per set as a team, Northwestern State's top blockers are Audrey Quesnel (1.00 b/set), Reagan Lee (1.00 b/set) and Addison McDermott (0.94 b/set). Hoang leads the Southland with an average of 6.31 digs per set.
The Islanders, who have a match Thursday at Incarnate Word, have won three straight in conference after dropping their Southland opener to Stephen F. Austin.
Rachel Young (3.36 k/set), Chloe Simon (3.23 k/set) and Kylie Filipiak (2.59 k/set) are A&M-Corpus Christi's top attacking threats. Setter Faith Panhans (10.05 a/set) is one of three setters in the conference averaging double-digit assists per set.
Young also leads the squad with an average of 0.59 blocks per set while libero Carissa Barnes (5.64 d/set) is the team leader in digs.

The Lady Lions wrap up the road trip, March 9, in Beaumont, Texas with a conference match at Lamar.
Southeastern will return home for four-straight, March 11-20, against Abilene Christian, Stephen F. Austin, Houston Baptist and Incarnate Word.

Proper social distancing techniques are required at all athletic events. Fans are asked to maintain a minimum distance of six feet from others, wear a face covering over both their nose and mouth, and wash their hands frequently. Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout Southeastern's athletic facilities.
While tailgating is currently prohibited, current health and safety guidelines set forth by state and local officials due to the COVID-19 pandemic allow for 25 percent capacity at athletic events. Capacity will be adjusted as state guidelines allow.
