HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana football team enters the spring 2021 season ranked No. 18 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 released on Monday.
Southeastern finished ranked 19
th in the 2019 final FCS polls. The Lions finished 8-5 overall and earned a win in the first round of the FCS playoffs over Villanova in the program's third trip to the postseason.
SLU is one of four Southland teams listed in the Stats Perform Top 25, along with Saturday's opponent, No. 17 Sam Houston. League foes Nicholls (No. 9) and McNeese (No. 19) are also ranked.
SLU is scheduled to open its six-game, conference-only spring schedule on Saturday with a 6 p.m. contest at Sam Houston. Saturday's game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (KSLU-FM (90.9), Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM). The Lions host McNeese at 6 p.m. on March 6 at Strawberry Stadium to open their home slate.
