SLU Closes Spring Camp, Begins Focus on Opener

Lions open season at Sam Houston next Saturday

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana football team closed its spring camp with a game day-style practice Saturday morning at Strawberry Stadium.

Southeastern dressed in their game uniforms for Saturday's practice and scrimmaged for a little over an hour. The dress rehearsal gave the Lions a chance to go through a game day routine.

"This day always signifies the end of camp," Southeastern head coach Frank Scelfo commented. "All of our attention now goes to week one and our first opponent, Sam Houston. As we move closer to the first game, we can see our focus becoming more locked in."

Scelfo was pleased with what he saw on both sides of the ball on Saturday.

"We were really pleased with the effort today," Scelfo said. "Our players' attention to detail and handling of all the different situations we threw at them today was very good."

SLU is scheduled to open its six-game, conference-only spring schedule next Saturday with a 6 p.m. contest at Sam Houston. Saturday's game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (KSLU-FM (90.9), Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM). Fans can also listen live at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the Lions Game Day Experience and TuneIn Radio apps.

The Lions host McNeese at 6 p.m. on March 6 at Strawberry Stadium to open their home slate.
