HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern men's basketball team continues their push for a berth in the Southland Conference tournament when they host Nicholls Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the University Center.

The Lions (6-12, 4-5 Southland) enter Saturday's game, following a loss to Sam Houston Wednesday night, occupying the sixth seed in the conference standings with just seven games remaining. SLU has four left on the road at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Northwestern State, Central Arkansas and New Orleans and three at home against Nicholls, Abilene Christian and McNeese.

Southeastern will look to even their conference record and the season series with the Colonels Saturday. The Lions fell to Nicholls, 87-67, on Jan. 9 on the road as SLU shot just 31 percent from the field on 18-for-57 shooting.

SLU is led by senior
Keon Clergeot averaging 15.8 points per game for the season. The UMass transfer is scoring 18.8 per contest in Southland games which is second in the league behind Sam Houston's Demarkus Lampley (19.5 ppg).

Junior
Gus Okafor, coming off his second double-double of the season Wednesday, is averaging 13.9 points and 7.3 rebounds (5
th in the Southland) per game in league play. The Baltimore, Maryland native has been red hot in his last five games scoring 18.8 points per game during the stretch.

The Colonels (11-6, 8-2 Southland) defeated Lamar on the road Wednesday night as five players scored in double figures. Senior guard Kevin Johnson, a preseason second team All-Southland selection, led the way with 18 points, including five three-pointers.

Nicholls is led by senior guard Ty Gordon in scoring averaging 14.8 points a game. The Tunica, Mississippi native is fourth in the Southland in three-pointers made with 43, and second in conference games with 29.

Southeastern leads the all-time series over Nicholls, 57-49, but the Colonels have won the last four meetings. However, the Lions have won seven of the last 10 at the University Center. Â
