TROY, Ala. – After a week off, the Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team returns to action Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. in search of their first road win of the season against Troy in Trojan Arena.

SLU (3-5) is also looking to snap a three-game skid after losses to Purdue Fort Wayne, Florida Gulf Coast and Sunday to Western Michigan in overtime last weekend in Fort Myers, Florida. Despite the losses, SLU's defense was terrific forcing FGCU into 20 turnovers leading to 16 points off turnovers. Then, the Lions suffocated WMU into 22 turnovers (23 points off turnovers) in Sunday's 81-77 loss in OT.

The Lions also are continuing their good start from the free throw line. Through eight games, SLU is leading the Southland at the charity stripe shooting 73.9 percent (116-for-157) as a team.

Individually, junior Gus Okafor leads the Lions in scoring averaging 15.8 points per game. The Baltimore, Maryland native has also recorded a pair of double-doubles in back-to-back games against Paul Quinn (17 points, 10 rebounds) and SMU (12 points, 12 rebounds).

Jalyn Hinton remains the Southland leader in blocked shots (16) and is fifth in the league in rebounding (7.3 rpg). The Florida Southern transfer is also shooting 81.8 percent from the free throw line (27-for-33) after making his first 13 of the season.

Sharp-shooting senior Ryan Burkhardt is leading the conference in three-pointers made. A North Florida transfer, Burkhardt is 21-for-52 for 40.4 percent from beyond the arch.

Troy (5-3) is coming off a blowout victory Wednesday night over Rust College, 81-48. The Trojans enter Sunday's matchup with SLU undefeated at home (3-0) this season with wins over Carver College, Jacksonville State and Rust.

The Trojans are led by freshman guard Duke Deen in scoring. The Bossier City, Louisiana native is averaging 12.5 ppg and has made 15 three-pointers for the season (15-for-49 – 30.6 percent). Deen is also shooting 86 percent (25-for-29) from the free throw line.

Sunday marks the 18th meeting between the two teams with Troy holding a 9-8 edge. However, the two teams haven't met since Nov. 26th, 2005 when the Trojans slipped past SLU, 84-82, in Troy.
