HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will head to Texas to face a pair of former Southland Conference rivals before taking a break for Christmas.
The Lady Lions (4-5) open the trip with a 2 p.m. contest on Monday at Stephen F. Austin (8-3). Lamar (5-4) awaits Southeastern on Wednesday with tip off set for 2 p.m. in Beaumont, Texas. Monday's game will be televised on ESPN+ while both cames can be heard online at

SLU carries a two-game winning streak into this week's trip. In their most recent action, Southeastern routed William Carey, 68-28, back on Dec. 10 in Hammond. The 28 points were the third-fewest allowed by the Lady Lions in program history and the lowest output by a Southeastern opponent since the 1974-75 campaign.
In the win over the Lady Saders, SLU limited the visitors to 14.0 percent (6-for-43) shooting from the field.
Natalie Kelly led the way for Southeastern, finishing with 13 points and 16 rebounds to notch her first double-double of the season.
Morgan Davis added 13 points of her own, while
Morgan Carrier pitched in with 10 points.
Hailey Giaratano leads SLU with 9.6 points and 3.2 assists per contest. Carrier (7.7 ppg),
Caitlyn Williams (7.1 ppg),
Breonca Ducksworth (6.2 ppg) and Davis (6.0 ppg) round out the top five scorers for a Lady Lions roster that is scoring a 62.4 point per game clip. Carrier continues to climb the program's career leaderboard for three-point field goals made (144, 4
th) and attempted (416, 5
th).
Southeastern has been successful on the boards, entering the Texas trip with a plus-4.1 rebounding margin. Williams has been the most effective rebounder, averaging 8.6 rebounds per contest, while Kelly carries a 5.4 per game rebounding average. Williams' 719 career rebounds are good for seventh in school history.
The Lady Lion defense has been consistent throughout the season, as Southeastern has held opponents to 54.4 points per game, while forcing 16.7 turnovers per outing. Giaratano, Ducksworth and
Cierria Cunningham share the team lead with nine steals each. Giaratano (10) and Kelly (seven) are the team leaders in blocked shots, while Williams is fourth in school history with 85 career blocks.
Southeastern will be facing a Stephen F. Austin team that has lost its last two after posting a six-game win streak on the way to an 8-3 start. The Ladyjacks will be back home after dropping road decisions to Gonzaga (64-54) and Portland (70-59).
SFA is averaging a robust 80.5 points per game. The trio of Stephanie Visscher (14.0 ppg), Aiyana Johnson (11.5 ppg) and Avery Brittingham (10.8 ppg) leads the way for the Ladyjacks.
Stephen F. Austin has a 38-6 lead in the all-time series between the Lady Lions and the Ladyjacks. SFA has won the last four meetings.
Lamar will welcome Southeastern on Wednesday and come into the contest having won four games in a row. The Cardinals have dispatched of Loyola (57-44), McNeese (88-76), Texas State (63-59) and Prairie View (66-46) during their recent hot streak.
The duo of Akasha Davis (14.8 ppg) and Sabria Dean (14.1 ppg) are the leading scorers for LU. Anyssia Gibbs (7.6 rpg) and Davis (7.4 rpg) are the top rebounders for Lamar.
Southeastern holds a slight 22-20 edge in the all-time series between the former conference rivals. Lamar took the last meeting between the two schools, 65-57, in the 2019-20 Southland opener in Hammond.
After returning to Hammond for Christmas, Southeastern will return to the road on Dec. 29, traveling to Houston for a 7 p.m. nonconference contest. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard online at
