Southeastern Welcomes Utah State on Saturday

Admission is free for Saturday's noon game between Lady Lions, Aggies in the UC

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will return to action on Saturday, hosting Utah State at noon in the University Center.
 
Admission is free for Saturday's contest between the Lady Lions (2-3) and the host Aggies. Daija Harvey and Jaylen Huderson will be Saturday's Spotlight Players of the Game and the first 150 fans will receive trading cards featuring the sophomore duo, courtesy of PRIDE. Southeastern will be looking to bounce back from a hard-fought 54-52 loss to UL Lafayette on Wednesday. Hailey Giaratano led SLU with 10 points and six rebounds, while Caitlyn Williams pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds for the Lady Lions.
 
Southeastern is averaging 59.6 points per game heading into Saturday's matinee. Cierria Cunningham leads a balanced Lady Lion attack with 7.2 points per game, followed by Chrissy Brown (7.0 ppg), Harvey (6.8 ppg), Morgan Carrier (6.6 ppg), Natalie Kelly (6.0 ppg) and Williams (6.0 ppg).
 
Giaratano paces the squad with 3.2 assists per outing. Harvey leads SLU with nine three-point field goals made and is third in school history with a 37.5 career three-point field goal percentage. Carrier ranks fifth on the program's career list in both three-point field goals made (137) and attempted (394).
 
The Lady Lions enter the game versus Utah State with a plus-0.2 rebounding margin. Williams carries a team-best 7.4 rebounding average and is ninth in program history with 679 career rebounds.
 
Defensively, SLU has held opponents to 56.0 points per contest and forced 17.0 turnovers per game. Taylor Bell leads Southeastern with seven steals, while Giaratano and Kelly have seven and five blocks, respectively. Williams is fourth in school history with 83 career blocks.
 
When Utah State visits Hammond, it will be a return home for its second-year head coach Kayla Ard. A former star at Loranger High School, where she was part of a 2000 state championship team, Ard played for the Lady Lions in the 2004-05 season.
 
The Aggies will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday. Kaylin Randhawa (17.0 ppg) leads USU in scoring, while E'Lease Stafford joins her in double figures with 11.2 points per game to go with her team-high 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals per outing. Adryana Quezada paces Utah State with 5.8 rebounds per game.
 
Following Wednesday's contest, Southeastern will play its next two games on the road. The trip starts with a 6:30 p.m. game at TCU. Wednesday's contest in Fort Worth, Texas can be seen on ESPN+.
