HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team will host the Maxwell Lieberman Classic Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they take on Paul Quinn College in the University Center.
 
Sunday's game takes on special meaning to Lions' associate head coach Mark Lieberman. The third-year SLU head coach lost his four month old son, Maxwell, back in 2012 due to premature birth complications.

As for the game, the Lions (1-1) are coming off a historic performance Friday night in a 128-58 win over Southeastern Baptist College.
 
SLU drilled an all-time program record 19 three-pointers highlighted by Matthew Strange who scored a career-high 23 points, including seven three pointers. Freshman Roger McFarlane also scored 23 points shooting 11-for-18 from the field.
 
The Lions also dished out 30 assists which was the most for SLU since Dec. 30, 1975 against Indiana Tech.
 
Paul Quinn College (3-0) enters Sunday's game against the Lions with some early season success. The Tigers are coming off wins at home against Southwestern Assemblies of God University and Arlington Baptist.
 
Southeastern will look to thwart the Tigers as they have a chance, once again, to make history as they will try to notch the 300th career on-court win for the program in the University Center. The Lions are 299-181 all-time in the confines of the UC.
