The Lady Lions will be looking to build upon their first-ever 2-0 start to Southland Conference play. After defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 71-58, at home in last Saturday's conference opener, SLU opened its league road slate by holding off a late Sam Houston rally on the way to a 71-67 victory over the Bearkats.

In the win at SHSU, Hailey Giaratano and Cierria Cunningham shared team-high honors with 17 points apiece, while Morgan Carrier chipped in 14 points for Southeastern. Breonca Ducksworth dished out a team-high five assists, while Chrissy Brown grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Lady Lions.

Jaylen Huderson (seven points, eight rebounds) and Daija Harvey (five points, seven rebounds) each provided effective minutes off the bench for the Lady Lions. Southeastern limited Sam Houston State to a 34.3 percent (23-for-67) showing from the field, including a 1-for-14 performance from behind the arc.

Averaging 72.8 points per game as a team, SLU has featured a balanced offensive attack, as seven players are averaging 8.0 points per game or higher. Giaratano leads the Lady Lions with 12.2 points per game and is joined in double figures by Cunningham (10.8 ppg) and Carrier (10.6 ppg). Brown tops the roster with 6.4 rebounds per contest.

Nicholls opened conference play with an 89-82 home win over Sam Houston last Saturday, before falling, 66-40, at Lamar on Wednesday.

Reigning Southland Conference Player of the Week Chelsea Cain leads the Colonels with 14.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Chyna Allen joins Cain in double figures with 10.6 points per game to her credit, while Anna McKendree leads Nicholls with 3.4 assists per outing.
