HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team continues their season-long three-game home stand Wednesday night when they host the University of Central Arkansas at 8 p.m. in the University Center.

The Lions (4-11, 2-4 Southland) are coming off a tough loss Saturday night at home to Northwestern State, 73-68. SLU fell behind by 21 points in the first half before taking a 66-64 lead with 2:02 left in the game. However, NSU went on a, decisive, 7-0 run to put the game away.

Despite the loss, junior Gus Okafor had another solid outing scoring 20 points and grabbing six rebounds. The Lions also shot 17-for-18 from the free throw line and ripped down 15 offensive rebounds.

SLU's Keon Clergeot continues to be the Lions' number one scoring option. The senior leads the team averaging 15.4 points per game, including 19.3 ppg in Southland games. The UMass transfer also leads the conference in free throws made (87), which is eighth in the nation.

UCA (3-11, 2-4 Southland) lost a pair of Southland matchups last week falling at home to Nicholls, 74-72, and on the road to Abilene Christian, 93-58.
The Bears enter Wednesday 1-9 on the road. However, they are battle tested in non-conference action as they played road games against second-ranked Baylor, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Memphis.

Central Arkansas is led by preseason first team All-Southland selection Rylan Burgersen. The senior guard is averaging 17.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. The Bears also lead the Southland in rebounds per game (38.1) and free throw percentage (74.9).

The Lions lead the all-time series over the Bears, 19-9, including 8-1 at home. SLU's lone loss at the University Center to UCA was a 73-71 setback during the 2018-19 season. The Lions overcame a 16-point second half deficit to tie the game, but  UCA's Matthew Mondesir tipped in an offensive rebound with one second left to give the Bears the win.

The two teams split last year with Central Arkansas defeating SLU, 88-68, in Conway, Arkansas. The Lions returned the favor as they edged UCA, 69-65, at the University Center in the home finale.

Fans can watch Wednesday's game on ESPN+, available on www.WatchESPN.com and the WatchESPN app. Web links to video and stats are available on the basketball schedule page at www.LionSports.net. The game will also be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the TuneIn Radio and Lions Gameday Experience apps.
