ABILENE, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team looks for back-to-back wins when they travel to face Abilene Christian Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Moody Coliseum.

The Lions (3-9, 1-2 Southland) are coming off a 76-63 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Wednesday night at home. Senior Keon Clergeot led SLU with a career-high 26 points, including 14-for-15 from the free throw line. Sophomore Nick Caldwell added 17 points, nine rebounds and five steals to help the Lions pick up their first conference win.

Clergeot enters Saturday's game at ACU averaging 22.2 points per game in Southland action which leads the conference.

Southeastern is also shooting 74 percent (61-for-82) from the free throw line in three conference games. The Lions shot 15-for-23 against Sam Houston, 23-for-33 at Nicholls and 23-for-26 in the victory Wednesday over A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Wildcats (10-2, 2-0 Southland) have the Southland's top-ranked defense. ACU comes into the matchup with SLU allowing just 58.6 per game, seventh in the nation. Abilene Christian is also averaging 10.0 steals a game, fifth in the country.

ACU boasts a dominant 32-5 home record since the beginning of the 2018-19 campaign. However, one of those five losses came at the hands of the Lions, as SLU earned a 75-66 road win over the Wildcats on Feb. 13, 2019.

Abilene Christian is led by senior guard Coryon Mason (11.3 ppg) and junior center Kolton Kohl (9.9 ppg, 5.0 rpg). Mason, a senior out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has scored in double figures in seven straight games, including a season-high 21 in the Wildcats' 83-65 win over Lamar at home.

Defensively, the Wildcats are led by Southland Conference steals leader Reggie Miller with 28 rips. The senior from Houston, Texas has recorded two or more steals in eight of ACU's 12 games.

The Lions lead the all-time series over the Wildcats, 9-5. But ACU has had the upper hand of late winning three straight over Southeastern. The Wildcats swept the season series last season winning at SLU, 75-69, and at ACU, 76-55.
