Game 2 Box Score

HAMMOND, La. – Every batter for the Headhunters recorded multiple hits on the way to a 16-10 victory over the Hitmen in Game 2 of the Southeastern Louisiana Softball Fall World Series Wednesday afternoon at North Oak Park.

The Headhunters, coached by assistant coach Jack Byerley and player development and camp coordinator April Byerley, evened the series, avenging an 8-2 loss to the Hitmen, coached by assistant coach Katie Godwin and senior Madison Watson, in last Friday's opening contest of the seven-game intrasquad series.

Aeriyl Mass, Audrey Greely, Ellie DuBois and Cameron Beal each had three hits apiece for the Headhunters, while Kelci Bodin and Lexi Johnson recorded two hits apiece. DuBois led the way with four RBI, while Bodin and Greely drove in three runs each.

Heather Zumo (1-1) struck out five and allowed one hit in three shutout innings to earn the win in the circle.

Lindsey Rizzo finished with three hits to lead the Hitmen, while Anna Rodenberg, Gina Escude, Kylie Chauvin and Cameron Goodman each had two hits. Rodenberg led her team with three RBI, while Goodman scored a team-high four runs.

The Headhunters jumped out to an early lead versus Hitman starter Alyssa Romano (0-1) in the top of the first inning. Bodin plated the first run, scoring Mass with an RBI triple, before coming home herself on a Greely sacrifice fly to provide a 2-0 advantage.

The Headhunters padded their lead in the top of the fourth inning. A two-run double by Beal highlighted a four-run frame, as the Headhunters took advantage of two Hitmen errors to take a 6-0 lead. The Hitmen got on the board on an RBI groundout by MC Comeaux in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 6-1.

The Headhunters answered with a six-run frame in the top of the fifth inning. A two-run triple by Greely capped the scoring and gave the Headhunters a commanding 12-1 lead. The Hitmen answered with a six-run inning of their own, as Rodenberg, Caroline Manzer and Chauvin all drove in runs, while the team also took advantage of two Headhunter passed balls, cutting the lead to 12-7.

The Headhunters added three runs to their lead in the sixth on RBI singles by Beal and Mass to extend the advantage to 15-7.

The Hitmen got the three runs back in the bottom of the seventh inning. An RBI triple by Escude and an RBI single by Rodenberg helped trim the lead to 15-10. Beal stole home to close out the scoring for the Headhunters in the top of the eighth inning.

On the Hitmen's final trip to the plate, DuBois worked around a one-out single by Comeaux, retiring Escude and Chauvin to provide the final 16-10 margin.
