The Lions (8-22, 5-14 Southland) were led by Ty Brewer who had 19 points and 10 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. The sophomore finished the game 7-for-11 from the field including five three-pointers and four steals. Junior Brandon Gonzalez continued his stellar play scoring 16 points while Maxwell Starwood finished with 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting.

UCA (10-20, 9-10 Southland) was paced by Hayden Koval with 19 points and nine rebounds while Eddy Kayouloud had 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Lions built a 14-point halftime lead, 35-21, thanks to stellar defense that included eight steals in the first half while holding the Bears to 8-for-25 shooting.

SLU led by as much as 20, 50-30, early in the second half before the Bears came battling back. UCA cut the Lions' lead to, 59-53, with 4:20 remaining. However, senior Von Julien, playing his final home game for the Lions, scored six of the final 10 points for Southeastern to hold off the UCA rally.

"It means a lot for me to see us get these last few wins," said Julien. "I want this season to finish on a good note so that the younger guys coming up will have something positive to build on for the next few years."

The Lions finished the game with 14 steals while holding the Bears to 22-fo-54 (40 percent) shooting. SLU shot 22-for-59 (37 percent) including nine three-pointers.
"For two weeks we have really had some of the best practices we have had all year," said SLU head coach David Kiefer. "And we have been able to carry it over to the games so I'm really super proud of our guys for continuing to fight which shows the type of character and tough kids we have here."

With the win, the Lions avenged the loss to UCA earlier this year as they won back-to-back games for the first time this year.

Next up, the Lions will look to end the season on a three-game winning streak when they take on the University of New Orleans (8-21, 4-15 Southland) Saturday night at 6 p.m. on the road in the season finale. UNO is coming off a loss to Northwestern State, 95-73, on the road Wednesday night.
