Homers Power Louisiana Tech Past Lions

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech used a barrage of home runs Tuesday to power past Southeastern Louisiana, 14-3, in nonconference action at Ruston High School.

The Bulldogs (11-6) hit four homers, including a pair by cleanup hitter Steele Netterville, on the way to picking up 13 hits off Southeastern (6-10) pitching. Seven Lion pitchers combined to walk 11 and hit an additional four batters.

Tech picked up five runs in the first inning, knocking out starter Corbin Bozosi (0-1). The Bulldogs added a run in the second, two in the third and five more in the fifth before Southeastern cracked the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the sixth.

Nick Ray led off the sixth with a towering solo blast to left field. Preston Faulkner followed with a double off the center-field wall. He scored on Trevor Rugg's single up the middle.

In the seventh, Champ Artigues ripped a two-out double into the gap in right-center. He scored on a Jacob Burke single to left.

Tech starting pitcher Kyle Crigger (1-1) earned the win in an opening role, tossing a pair of scoreless innings. Bozosi suffered the loss, allowing five runs in 0.1 innings pitched.
