HAMMOND, La.  – The Southeastern Louisiana beach volleyball team opens its inaugural season, as nine SLU teams will be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Beach Lions will compete in the New Orleans Invitational this week at the Digs Volleyball Complex in Covington, Louisiana. On Friday, SLU faces Texas A&M-Kingsville at 2 p.m. and Southern Miss at 5 p.m. Southeastern takes on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday at 10 a.m.
 
The Southeastern men's and women's track and field teams will finish competing at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships. The meet wraps up Monday in Birmingham, Alabama. Links to live video and results will be available on the track and field schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
 
The SLU women's basketball team (12-15, 9-9 Southland) will look to officially secure its first Southland Conference Tournament berth since the 2011-12 season this week. The Lady Lions close out the regular season with road games at Central Arkansas (Wednesday, 7 p.m.) and New Orleans (Saturday, 1 p.m.).
 
The Lion men's basketball team (7-22, 4-14 Southland) closes out its home schedule on Wednesday, hosting UCA at 7 p.m. in the University Center. SLU wraps up the 2019-20 campaign at UNO on Saturday with a 6 p.m. game.
 
The Southeastern baseball team (5-6) opens the week with a 6:30 p.m. contest at LSU on Tuesday. The Lions will then open Southland Conference play with a three-game series at Central Arkansas. The series opens with a 6 p.m. contest on Friday, continues on Saturday at 6 p.m. and concludes with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.
 
The Lady Lion softball team (13-6) also begins league play this week. SLU heads to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a three-game Southland series. Southeastern and the Islanders meet on Friday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader, while Saturday's series finale is set for 12 p.m.
 
The SLU tennis team opens its Southland home schedule this week. On Friday, Southeastern hosts Lamar for a 1 p.m. match. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi visits Hammond on Sunday for a noon meeting at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
The Southeastern golf team continues the spring portion of its 2019-20 schedule this week. On Monday and Tuesday, the Lions will be in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to compete in the Gulf Coast Intercollegiate at Diamondhead Country Club.

Tuesday, Friday and Sunday's baseball games, as well as Saturday's men's basketball game and both of this week's women's basketball contests will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the TuneIn Radio and Lions Gameday Experience apps.

The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Baseball with Matt Riser is set for Monday at noon from Blackened Brew in downtown Hammond. Riser joins host Allen Waddell at lunchtime every Monday during the regular season for the 60-minute radio show, talking the latest in Southeastern baseball. Each week, select Lion players will also join the duo. Blackened Brew is located at 112 W. Thomas St.
