SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team travels to face the University of Incarnate Word Saturday afternoon at the McDermott Center at 4:15 p.m.

The Lions (6-16, 3-8 Southland) are three games out of the eighth and final spot in the Southland Conference Tournament with just nine regular season games remaining.

SLU is coming off a loss at home to Houston Baptist (3-17, 3-8 Southland), 79-76, Wednesday night. Junior Brandon Gonzalez led the Lions with a career-high 19 points while SLU forced HBU into 23 turnovers. However, the Lions couldn't overcome the Huskies' making a season-high 11 three-pointers.

The Cardinals (6-16, 3-8 Southland) are coming off a huge victory Wednesday night over reigning Southland Conference regular season champion Sam Houston State. UIW edged SHSU, 72-71, in overtime at home. Freshmen guards Keaston Willis and Drew Lutz led the Cardinals with 17 points each in the win.

Willis, out of Sulphur Springs, Texas, leads the team in scoring for the season averaging 12.9 points per game. Lutz, from Granger, Louisiana is right behind Willis scoring 11.2 a game.
While UIW has struggled on the road (1-10), the Cardinals have been tough at home with wins over University of New Orleans, HBU and Sam Houston.

The Lions lead the all-time series over UIW, 5-1, including winning the last three. Southeastern held off the Cardinals last year at the University Center, 70-64. The game was tied at 62-62 with 4:33 to go but SLU held UIW scoreless for the next 4:20 allowing the Lions to pull away.
