HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team hosts Northwestern State Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. in the University Center for 'Senior Day.'

The Lions (6-22, 3-14 Southland) will honor Von Julien, the lone senior on the team, prior to Saturday's game. Julien, out of Reserve, Louisiana, has played in 60 games with 60 starts for SLU over the past two seasons. The Riverside Academy grad currently leads the Southland in assists (135) and has recorded 271 for his career which is ninth all-time in program history. A transfer of Tulane, Julien has scored 440 points in his SLU career.

"These two years have really been good to me," said Julien. "I'm really thankful for these coaches who gave me a chance and believed in me. I just want to thank all the fans that have been there through thick and thin who never gave up on us as well."

With just three games remaining, Southeastern enters Saturday's game eliminated from the opportunity of playing in the Southland Conference Tournament as they are five games back of eighth place McNeese (13-15, 8-9 Southland). The Cowboys defeated the Lions Wednesday night, 104-82, to close the book on the Lions' postseason chances.

Northwestern State (12-14, 9-8 Southland) comes in tied for sixth place in the Southland Conference standings. The Demons, however, have dropped their last two contests losing at home to Nicholls, 73-69, and on the road to Stephen F. Austin. 90-59.

The Demons are led by junior forward Chudier Bile. The Denver, Colorado native leads Northwestern State in both scoring (14.2 ppg) and rebounding (7.4 rpg).

Saturday is the second matchup of the season between the two teams as the Lions defeated the Demons in an overtime thriller, 84-81, Jan. 25 at Prather Coliseum in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

The Lions jumped out to a 29-16 lead with 5:24 left in the first half before NSU rallied to tie the game at 32-32 at halftime. The second half was a battle but saw the Demons take a 70-65 lead with 2:02 to go. Southeastern fought back and tied the game at 71-71 with 11 seconds to go as Julien drilled a three-pointer right in front of the Lions' bench. Julien also scored eight of the 13 points for the Lions in overtime to give SLU the heart-stopping win.

The Demons lead the all-time series over the Lions, 85-54, but SLU has won five straight entering Saturday's game at the University Center.
