GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team earned a pair of victories on the second day of the UF Bubly Invitational Saturday evening at KSP Stadium on the University of Florida campus.
The Lady Lions (8-2) opened the day with a 6-1 win over Longwood (3-5). In the nightcap, SLU rolled past Florida A&M (0-9) for an 8-2 victory.
In the win over LWU, Southeastern pitcher
MC Comeaux (2-0) scattered five hits and struck out eight on the way to the first complete-game victory by a Lady Lion pitcher in 2020.
Audrey Greely (3-for-3) and
Aeriyl Mass (2-for-3) led SLU at the plate.
SLU collected 12 hits in the win over FAMU in the nightcap.
Lindsey Rizzo led the Lady Lions with three hits, while
Ella Manzer hit a three-run home run.
Sophie Hannabas (1-0),
Anna Westberry and
Tanner Wright combined to hold the Rattlers to seven hits and the trio finished with seven strikeouts.

Game One – Southeastern Louisiana 6, Longwood 1
Longwood took the early lead in the top of the first inning, scratching across a run on a sacrifice fly by Lauren Taylor. The Lancers were poised to add to their lead, but with the bases loaded and two outs, Comeaux struck out Leigha Hill to keep the deficit at 1-0.
Southeastern answered in its half of the first. Mass led off the frame with a single, advanced to second on a Rizzo single, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Madisen Blackford to tie the score at 1-1.
The Lady Lions took the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning. Greely started the big inning with her first collegiate triple and later scored on an error. Mass singled home
Cameron Goodman, then took advantage of an error to score the inning's third run. Manzer doubled home Rizzo to give SLU a 5-1 advantage.
Southeastern closed out the scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning. Greely doubled home
Briahna Bennett to provide the final margin.
The Lady Lion output was more than enough for Comeaux. The Port Allen, Louisiana native lowered her ERA to 1.38 early in her debut season.
Game Two – Southeastern Louisiana 8, Florida A&M 2
Southeastern took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Rizzo and Blackford recorded consecutive singles, then scored when
Karlee Kraft cleared the bases with a two-run triple to put SLU ahead, 2-0.
Greely was hit by a pitch and scored on an error in the Lady Lion second. Later in the inning, Rizzo singled home Goodman to double the Southeastern advantage.
FAMU used a two-out rally to get on the board in the bottom of the third inning. An RBI triple by Melkayla Irvis, followed by an infield run-scoring single by Brandice Boatwright. Hannabas maintained a 4-2 lead by retiring Kenyaamari Jones to end the rally.
Southeastern stranded runners in each of the next three innings before breaking the game open in the top of the seventh inning. Mass and Rizzo opened the frame with consecutive singles, then scored one out later when Manzer blasted her first home run of the season over the left centerfield fence.
Later in the inning,
Ali McCoy drew a walk and later scored on a FAMU error to extend the lead to 8-2. Wright struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to strand a pair of Rattlers and preserve the final margin.
