GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team split a pair of games on the opening day of the UF Bubly Invitational on Friday morning at KSP Stadium on the University of Florida campus.
Southeastern (6-2) opened the day with a 9-0 loss to North Dakota State (2-3). The Lady Lions bounced back in the day's second game with a 6-1 victory over Florida A&M (0-6).
The Lady Lions earned the win over FAMU thanks to a 13-hit attack.
Lindsey Rizzo,
Madisen Blackford,
Karlee Kraft and
Cameron Goodman had two hits apiece for SLU.
Alley McDonald (3-0) scattered three hits and struck out five in six innings of work to earn the win for Southeastern.
A seven-run first inning was too much for SLU to overcome in the opening contest of the day.
Aeriyl Mass had the lone hit of the game for the Lady Lions.

Game One – North Dakota State 9, Southeastern Louisiana 0 (5 Innings)
North Dakota State jumped to a seven-run lead against SLU pitchers Kraft (1-1) and
Heather Zumo. The Bison collected four hits and took advantage of three Lady Lion errors to take a 7-0 lead.
Mass led off the game with an infield single, but NDSU starter Paige Vargas (2-1) controlled the Lady Lions the rest of the way. An
Ella Manzer walk would be all SLU could manage in the contest.
North Dakota State scratched across two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to enforce the mercy rule.
Game Two – Southeastern Louisiana 6, Florida A&M 1
Southeastern took the lead against FAMU starter Nadia Zenteno (0-2) in the bottom of the second inning. Goodman singled and two runs scored when Shayla Boyd misplayed Goodman's hit, giving SLU an early 2-0 advantage.
McDonald faced her only threat in the top of the third inning. Florida A&M cut the lead in half thanks to a SLU error with one out, but McDonald recovered to retire the next 11 batters she faced.
Southeastern added to its lead in the bottom of the third inning. Doubles by Manzer and Kraft plated the inning's first run and
Audrey Greely drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to put SLU up, 4-1.
In the fourth inning, Mass drew a one-out walk, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Rizzo. Southeastern closed out the scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Goodman singled home Kraft.
Sophie Hannabas threw a scoreless seventh to secure the victory.
