THIBODAUX, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team looks to snap a five-game losing streak Saturday afternoon when they travel to face Nicholls at Stopher Gymnasium at 3 p.m.

The Lions (6-19, 3-11 Southland) will eye redemption as they take on Nicholls for the second time this season. SLU fell, 69-58, Jan. 11 to the Colonels at the University Center. Southeastern trailed by 12 points in the second half, 50-38, with 10:33 left but rallied to cut the deficit to 61-58 with 3:18. Nicholls would score the final eight points of the game to hold off the Lions' late rally.

SLU is coming off a 79-70 loss at home to reigning Southland Conference regular season champion, Sam Houston State, Wednesday night. The Lions trailed by 14 points, 61-47 in the second half before rallying late to trim the margin to 73-70 with 2:08 left. SLU missed their final six shots allowing the Bearkats to score the last six points of the game.

Ty Brewer (6-7, F, Meridian, Mississippi) still leads the Lions in scoring (15.4 ppg – eighth in Southland) and rebounding (8.0 rpg – fourth in Southland). Senior
Von Julien continues to lead the conference in assists with 121 (5.0 apg).

The Lions are three games out of the eighth and final spot, held by Lamar (12-13, 6-8 Southland) for the Southland Conference Tournament with just six games remaining. However, LU own the tiebreaks over SLU after defeating the Lions, 79-73 in overtime Dec. 18.

The Colonels (16-9, 10-4 Southland) enter Saturday's game in second place in the conference standings following a 69-65 win over Lamar Wednesday night at home. With the win, the Colonels improved to 10-1 at Stopher Gym this season with their only loss coming to Northwestern State, 73-72, Jan. 15.

Nicholls, under second-year head coach Austin Claunch, is led by senior Dexter McClanahan (6-4, G, 185) in scoring at 13.4 points per game. The Ellenwood, Georgia native also leads the team with 54 three-point field goals (eighth in Southland).

While the Colonels have won the last two matchups against the Lions, SLU leads the all-time series 57-47.
