BATON ROUGE, La.  – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team looks to get on the winning track when they take on SEC foe and in-state rival LSU Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Maravich Assembly Center.

The Lions (0-2) fell Saturday afternoon to UAB, 84-57. SLU found themselves in a huge first half hole trailing 43-17 at halftime and trailed by as many as 36, 65-29, early in the second half. However, the Lions seemed to find their rhythm offensively in the second half outscoring the Blazers, 42-41. Freshman Jamon Kemp provided SLU with a second half spark scoring 12 points and grabbing six rebounds.

SLU will look to build on that second half momentum Monday when they take on LSU (1-1). The Tigers are coming off a tough loss Saturday afternoon as well falling to St. Louis, 85-81. LSU trailed by 10 for much of the second half but rallied to cut the deficit to one, 80-79, with under a minute left. But St. Louis hit five straight free throws in the final 40 seconds to secure the win.

The Tigers are led by two preseason first team All-SEC selections in junior Javonte Smart (6-4, 205, G) and sophomore Trendon Watford (6-9, 240, F). However, freshman Cameron Thomas (6-4, 210, G) has had the hot hand for LSU through the first two games. The Chesapeake, Virginia native is shooting 20-for-39 (51 percent) from the field and 8-for-19 (42 percent) from the three-point line. The Oak Hill Academy grad scored 27 points in the Tigers' season opening win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and 25 in the loss to St. Louis.

As for the Lions, the 0-2 start follows suit with the rest of the Southland Conference. Outside of Abilene Christian (3-0) and Nicholls (2-1), the rest of the Southland is a combined 1-14.

SLU also has reason for optimism as they will play their second straight game with a full roster Monday night. Gus Okafor (6-6, 230, Jr., F) and Elijah Ifejeh (6-9, 240, Sr., F) missed the game at Purdue Fort Wayne due to injuries and saw their first action Saturday against UAB.
