NATCHITOCHES, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team hits the road as they take on long-time rival Northwestern State Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at Prather Coliseum in the 139th meeting between the two teams.

The Lions (5-14, 2-6 Southland) have lost back-to-back games on the road to Abilene Christian (10-8, 5-2 Southland) Saturday and Wednesday night at home to McNeese (10-9, 5-3 Southland).

SLU started off well Wednesday night as they led the Cowboys, 18-11, midway through the first half. But the Lions struggled for the remainder of the half scoring just six points over the final 12 minutes as McNeese led 31-24 at halftime. The Cowboys took control in the second half highlighted by six three-pointers opening up a 71-46 and went on to defeat the Lions, 77-61.

Despite the loss, SLU's Maxwell Starwood scored a career-high 17 points starting his first career game in place of Pape Diop who was out with a concussion. Diop's status for Saturday's game is questionable.

The Demons (7-10, 4-4 Southland) dropped a tough one Wednesday night to league-leading Stephen F. Austin (16-3, 7-1 Southland), 69-62. NSU trailed SFA, 34-26 at halftime and trailed by as much as 13 in the second half but rallied to tie the game at 54-54 with 5:17 remaining. The Demons went 3:25 without scoring allowing SFA to pull away for the win.

Entering Saturday's matchup with the Lions, Chudier Bile leads NSU in scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.6 rpg). While Bile leads the way, the Demons have plenty of depth as they have nine players who average 12 minutes or more a game.

NSU leads the all-time series with SLU, 85-53. But the Lions have won the last five contests.

Fans can follow the play-by-play of Saturday's game on 90.9 FM KSLU. ESPN+, available on www.WatchESPN.com and the WatchESPN app, will provide a video stream of the game. Web links to video and stats are available on the basketball schedule page at LionSports.Net
