CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southeastern Louisiana wraps up its season-opening road trip this weekend, facing SIU-Edwardsville, Alabama A&M and host Southern Illinois at the Saluki Bash.
The Lady Lions (1-3) face a pair of matches Friday, going up against SIUE (2-1) at 10 a.m. and Alabama A&M (3-1) at 5 p.m. in the Banterra Center. Southeastern matches up with host Southern Illinois (1-2) in the tournament's final match Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

SLU NOTES
- Four Lady Lions are averaging at least a pair of kills per set, including Jodi Edo (2.50 k/set), Sam Gomez (2.43 k/set), Karlee Wilkerson (2.36 k/set) and Caroline Golden (2.29 k/set).
- Ariana Hebert, a freshman from Lafayette, Louisiana ranks sixth in the Southland Conference with 6.79 assists per set and 0.57 service aces (8) per set.
- Southeastern also has players averaging at least a pair of digs per set, including Golden (2.29 d/set), Alexis Pratt (2.21 d/set), Jolie Hidalgo (2.07 d/set) and Lizzy Low (2.00 d/set).
- Edo ranks seventh in the Southland Conference with 1.21 blocks per set. Her four solo blocks are one behind the conference leader.
OPPONENT NOTES
- Alabama A&M swept through the SWAC/MEAC Challenge this past weekend, defeating Delaware State, Florida A&M and South Carolina State, before dropping a three-set decision Tuesday at Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee.
- SIUE lost to UC Riverside before defeating Farleigh Dickinson and host Northern Illinois this past weekend at the NIU Invitational.
- Southern Illinois dropped matches to Portland State and host St. Louis this past weekend before defeating Middle Tennessee in its final match at the Marcia Hamilton Classic.
LAST MATCH
Southeastern fought off a tough Tulane squad in five sets, 21-25, 25-23, 20-25, 30-28, 15-12, Tuesday in New Orleans, Louisiana, earning its first win of the season.
The Lady Lions posted a season-best .230 attack percentage and Wilkerson recorded a career-high 18 kills. Edo and Gomez contributed 14 kills apiece to the winning side. Hebert (23 assists, 10 digs) and fellow freshman
Baylee Laskoskie (30 assists, 10 digs) both turned in double-doubles while splitting the setting duties.
Edo and Gomez each had a hand in five of Southeastern's 10 team blocks. Pratt, one of five Lady Lions to reach double-digit digs, posted a team-high 19. Golden (17) and Hidalgo (13) also contributed double-digit dig totals.
UP NEXT
Southeastern opens the home portion of its 2019 schedule, hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a Southland Conference match, Sept. 12, at the University Center. Both teams will participate in the SLU Lion Up Classic, Sept. 13-14 in Hammond, Louisiana against California Baptist and Jackson State.
