HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will compete in the Southland Conference Tournament, while the baseball team hosts its fellow Southland co-leader during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The SLU softball team (32-21, 17-10 Southland) will be the No. 5 seed in the league tournament, opening play on Tuesday with an 11 a.m. single-elimination game versus eighth-seeded Central Arkansas at the Lady Demon Diamond in Natchitoches. Fans can see the team off to the tournament on Monday at 10:40 a.m., when it departs from the softball indoor facility on North Campus.
Should the Lady Lions get by UCA, Southeastern will enter the double-elimination portion of the bracket, which runs Tuesday through Friday. The winner of the tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The first three days of the tournament will be streamed live on the Southland Digital Network at
www.Southland.org/live and via the Southland apps available for iPhone, Android, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku. Friday's noon championship game will be on ESPNU with the if necessary game set for ESPN3.
The Lion baseball team (27-21, 16-8 Southland) will close out its non-conference schedule on Tuesday, hosting South Alabama at 6 p.m. at Alumni Field. Tuesday is a Study Break at the Pat, as the first 200 Southeastern Louisiana students will receive a study pack courtesy of Southeastern Athletics Marketing and Promotions.
Tuesday is also National Teacher Appreciation Day, as any fan presenting a valid teacher's ID will receive two free tickets.
SLU currently sits atop the Southland Conference standings in a tie with Sam Houston State, which will visit Alumni Field for a three-game series this week. The series opens with a 6 p.m. contest on Friday, continues on Saturday at 2 p.m. and concludes on Sunday at 1 p.m. Prior to Sunday's game, Southeastern will honor the 2019 senior class.
On Sunday, Southeastern will also celebrate Mother's Day by offering a Mom's Day Out ticket deal – two tickets for $12. Every home Sunday is Local Heroes Appreciation at Alumni Field, as all first responders, service members and military personnel will receive a discounted ticket with a valid ID.
Tuesday and Sunday of this week will see Cane's Challenges at the Pat. If the Lions score five or more runs in either contest, fans will be able to redeem their game ticket or student coupon at their local participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers for a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
All of this week's baseball games will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at
www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the TuneIn Radio and Lions Game Day Experience apps. LionVision subscribers can access a live video stream of all of this week's action at
