HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will close out its 2019 regular season non-conference schedule on Tuesday, facing in-state foe Southern at 3 p.m. in Baton Rouge.

Southeastern took two of three from Central Arkansas to clinch a postseason berth. The Lady Lions will be a part of the Southland Conference Tournament field on May 7-10 in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Southeastern's success is thanks in large part to a high-powered offense. The Lady Lions head into the final two weeks of the regular season leading the conference in batting average (.312), runs (265), hits (390), doubles (67), triples (12), runs batted in (218) and walks (154).
Ella Manzer (.370, 3
rd) and
Jaquelyn Ramon (.357, 7
th) are among the league's leading hitters, while fellow starters
Caroline Manzer (.378),
Rebecca Skains (.342),
Mima Doucet (.330),
Lindsey Rizzo (.324),
Madisen Blackford (.323) and
Ali McCoy (.308) are all hitting above .300. Ramon also leads the league with 41 runs scored, while Skains (52, 2
nd),
Ella Manzer (50, 6
th) and Ramon (46, 10
th) are in the Southland top 10 in hits.
Skains has a single-season school record and league-leading 17 doubles, while
Ella Manzer (12, 4
th) and
Madisen Blackford (11, 8
th) each are in the league's top 10.
Bobbi Smith leads the league with five triples, while
Madisen Blackford has a team-high five home runs.
Southeastern leads the nation with 204 stolen bases – the 16
th-highest single-season total in Division I history and the highest total by a team since 2002. Ramon continues to lead the nation with 56 stolen bases, while Doucet (27, 4
th), Smith (25, 5
th), Rizzo (24, 6
th) and
Madisen Blackford (17, 9
th) all rank in the conference's top 10.
Ramon is the Southland Conference and school career leader with 177 stolen bases. The Channelview, Texas native's career total is 10
th on the Division I all-time leaderboard.
Alley McDonald (11-6, 2.11 ERA, 1 save) is in the Southland top 10 in wins and earned run average and is the leader of a Southeastern pitching staff that has a 2.88 team ERA.
Tanner Wright (5-5, 2.95 ERA),
Sophie Hannabas (6-4, 3.52 ERA, 1 save) and
Karlee Kraft (4-0, 2.25 ERA) are the other primary arms for SLU.
Southern heads into Tuesday's contest with a .230 team batting average. Jaslyn Perrodin leads SU with a .341 batting average, while Kameri Mott paces the squad with three home runs and 14 RBI. Aubrion James (6-7, 2.68 ERA) and Tiara Scott (1-12, 4.72 ERA) are the top pitchers for a Lady Jaguar staff that has a 3.51 team ERA.
Southeastern closes out its home schedule this week, hosting McNeese in a three-game series at North Oak Park. The series opens with a 5 p.m. contest on Friday and continues with a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
