THIBODAUX, La. – After clinching the three-seed and a first round bye in next week's Southland Conference Tournament Wednesday night, the Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball wraps up the regular season Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against Nicholls at Stopher Gym.

The Lions (16-14, 12-5 Southland) are coming off an 81-67 win over New Orleans Wednesday to secure the bye in the conference tournament which begins March 13 at the Merrill Center in Katy, Texas. SLU will play in the quarterfinals Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.

But first, Southeastern will head to Thibodaux to take on the Colonels in the regular season finale.

The Lions defeated Nicholls (13-17, 6-11 Southland) Feb. 2 at the University Center scoring a season-high 91 points. Moses Greenwood led SLU with 21 points and 10 rebounds and Marlain Veal added 14 points to aid the Lions to the win. Southeastern made a season-high 34 field goals (34-for-64) and drilled 10 three-pointers.

Greenwood, a Sharon, Mississippi native, continues his torrid pace after scoring a career-high 33 points in Wednesday's victory of UNO. The senior and fourth leading scorer in SLU history (1,465) is averaging 22.8 points and 8.8 rebounds in his last nine games while shooting 80-for-119 (67 percent).

Veal, a New Orleans, Louisiana native is the program's second all-time leading scorer with 1,612 career points and is the all-time leader in games played (129), assists (574) and steals (209).

Southeastern enters Saturday's contest with Nicholls 25-7 against in-state Southland Conference opponents the last four years including three straight wins over the Colonels. The Lions are also a robust 15-1 in February and March the last two seasons.

Nicholls is still alive for a possible bid in the Southland Conference Tournament but would need some help. The Colonels would need to beat SLU and Central Arkansas (7-10 Southland) lose to Northwestern State (6-11 Southland) and Stephen F. Austin (7-10 Southland) to lose to Sam Houston State (15-2 Southland) to clinch the eight-seed.

Saturday's game can be heard live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the Lions Game Day Experience and TuneIn Radio apps.
