ABILENE, Texas – The reigning Southland Conference Champion Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team continues a two-game road trip when they face Abilene Christian Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.
Â
With four games remaining, the Lions (13-14, 9-5 Southland) enter Saturday's contest in fourth place in the Southland standings, a game ahead of Lamar (15-12, 8-6), following Wednesday's setback to third place New Orleans (15-10, 10-4 Southland).
Â
ACU (21-5, 10-3 Southland) holds the second spot in the standings after back-to-back wins over Nicholls and Incarnate Word.
Â
The Lions and Wildcats met earlier this season at the University Center with ACU edging SLU, 75-72, when Payton Ricks drilled a three-pointer with two seconds left to give the Wildcats the victory.
Â
Redemption won't come easy for SLU. The Wildcats are 11-1 at home this season with their only loss coming to Southland leading Sam Houston State (18-9, 13-1 Southland) 80-75 in double overtime.
Â
Southeastern has fought their way back in the picture thanks to a 9-2 stretch since the set back to ACU led by
Moses Greenwood.
Â
Greenwood, the Sharon, Mississippi native, has been on a tear. The Velma Jackson grad
is averaging 20.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while shooting 48-for-70 (68 percent) in the last six games. The senior is second in the Southland in field goal percentage (.601), fifth in scoring (16.2) and rebounding (7.5) and sixth in blocked shots (1.2).
Â
The Wildcats are led by Jaron Lewis (6-6, 215, F) in scoring (13.0) and leads the team in rebounding (5.8). Â
Â
ACU's Payton Ricks is second in scoring averaging 11.8 points per game. The 6-2 guard leads the conÂference in three-point shooting (64-for-142, 45 percent).
Â
Abilene Christian also boasts the number one ranked defense in the conference allowing just 63.5 points per game.
Â
Saturday's game will be broadcast by ESPN 3 and is available with ESPN apps at
