BEAUMONT, Texas. – After a 12-day hiatus, the Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team will begin Southland Conference play against Lamar Wednesday night on the road at the Montagne Center at 7 p.m.

The Lions (3-6) haven't played since defeating SUNO, 79-74, Dec. 6 at home. SLU was led by sophomore
Ty Brewer scoring a career-high 27 points and added 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. The Meridian, Mississippi native enters Wednesday's contest second in the Southland in scoring (17.9 ppg) and third in rebounding (8.7 rpg).
Junior
Pape Diop, a native of Sengal, also made his mark against SUNO scoring a career-high 25 points to aid the Lions as SLU improved to 3-1 at the University Center this season.

Southeastern will be in search of their first road win of the season (0-5) Wednesday at Lamar following losses at Tulane (7-2), Tulsa (8-3), Austin Peay State (4-5) and Vanderbilt (6-3).

The Cardinals (6-5), on the contrary, are undefeated at home (5-0) with wins over Champion Christian, Arlington Baptist, Mount St. Mary's, Rice and SUNO.

Lamar is led by senior T.J. Atwood in scoring (15.5 ppg). The Beaumont, Texas native is also shooting 50 percent (72-for-144) from the field entering Southland Conference play. The Cardinals' defense has been a recipe for their success holding opponents to 38.7 percent shooting, second in the Southland behind Sam Houston State (38.4)

Wednesday marks the 50
th all-time meeting between the two clubs with Lamar holding a 25-24 advantage. However, the Lions have won the last two meetings including a 76-69 win at home last season and a 63-58 victory in Beaumont two years ago.
