NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team wraps up a three-game eight-day road trip Monday night against Vanderbilt at Memorial Gym at 7 p.m. broadcast on the SEC Network.

The Lions (2-4) competed well in the first two games of the road trip. Wednesday, Southeastern battled Tulsa (4-1) for 40 minutes holding a 60-59 lead with 4:59 remaining before falling, 73-66.

Saturday, Southeastern came out strong against Austin Peay State taking a 14-point first half lead, 37-23. SLU withstood the initial rally from APSU hanging on to a 60-59 lead with 8:49 to go before the Lions' offense stalled out as the Governors finished the game on a 22-0 run.

Freshman Jeremiah Saunders led the Lions Saturday with 14 points while juniors Pape Diop and Brandon Gonzalez each scored nine.
.
Southeastern shifts their attention to Monday when they face the Commodores (4-1) who are coached by a familiar face, former NBA superstar Jerry Stackhouse (first season). Vanderbilt is coming off back-to-back home wins over Austin Peay and South Carolina State.

The Commodores are led by second team preseason All-SEC selection Aaron Nesmith (F- 6-6 – 213). The junior is sixth in the country in scoring averaging 25.3 points per game and is shooting 61 percent from the field (45-for-73) and 56 percent (25-for-44) from the three-point line.

The Vanderbilt backcourt also includes a well-known name, Scottie Pippen Jr., the son of six-time NBA champion for the Chicago Bulls, Scottie Pippen. Pippen Jr., a freshman from Los Angeles, California, is averaging 11.0 points and 4.2 assists per game in five contests

Monday marks the first meeting between the two teams in nearly nine years when the Lions fell at Vanderbilt, 85-52, Dec. 11, 2018.

The game was originally scheduled to be broadcast on 90.9 KSLU but due to the Southeastern football team's berth in the FCS Playoffs, KSLU will broadcast 'Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo' at 7 p.m. Monday.

The SEC Network, available on www.WatchESPN.com and the WatchESPN app, will provide a video stream of the game. Web links to video and stats are available on the basketball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
