11/13/2019 11:52:00 PM

HAMMOND, La. – Seven student-athletes have committed to continue their athletics and academic endeavors as members of the Southeastern Louisiana softball program, SLU head softball coach Rick Fremin announced on Wednesday on the opening day of the 2020-21 early signing period.

All seven of the newest Lady Lions will be high school seniors in the 2020 season. The newest Lady Lions include outfielder Kylie Chauvin (Baton Rouge, La./Central HS), utility player Ellie DuBois (Shreveport, La./Evangel HS), outfielder Gina Escude (Luling, La./Academy of Our Lady), first baseman/designated player Sadi Hewitt (Forney, Texas/Forney HS), utility player Lexi Johnson (Reserve, La./Riverside Academy), pitcher Alyssa Romano (Gonzales, La./St. Amant HS) and pitcher Kassie Salling (Baton Rouge, La./Parkview Baptist HS).

"We did not add any junior college products in this class for the first time since I've been here and we expect this young group to create depth," Fremin commented. "We have several players in this class that we believe can be breakout players for us and we feel this class continues our program's progress in the right direction."
