Lady Lions Host Northwestern State for Homecoming

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana returns to the University Center court Thursday at 7 p.m., hosting in-state rival Northwestern State in a Southland Conference volleyball match for Homecoming.
 
Looking to bounce back from a loss that snapped a three-match winning streak, the Lady Lions (8-10, 3-2) sit one game back of third-place Northwestern State (12-7, 4-1 Southland) in the conference standings.
 
Admission to the match is free. Fans are asked to enter the University Center upstairs at Gate 3. Lady Lion volleyball posters and magnet schedules will be available in the Fan Zone. The annual Homecoming Lip-Sync competition follows the match.
 
The new Southeastern Sports Network will offer a free video stream of each Southeastern match this week. Tune in online at www.LionSports.net or the Lions' Gameday Experience app for Android or iOS devices. Fans can also watch on Southeastern's YouTube channel (/SLUathletics) with any mobile, tablet or smart TV device (e.g., Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Android TV and Roku).

NOTEWORTHY
  • Southeastern's offensive attack (.197) currently ranks seventh in the Southland, the highest the Lady Lions have ranked since finishing the 2012 season ranked sixth.
  • Individually, Jodi Edo (.292) and Sam Gomez (.286) rank fourth and seventh, respectively.
  • Edo (2.67 k/set), Caroline Golden (2.53 k/set) and Gomez (2.19 k/set) are Southeastern's top attackers.
  • Baylee Laskoskie ranks seventh in the Southland with 7.75 assists per set.
  • Golden, a junior from Mandeville, Louisiana, ranks fourth in service aces (0.41 sa/set).
  • Edo, a senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is tied for seventh in the Southland with 1.02 blocks per set.
  • Alexis Pratt (3.31 d/set), Golden (2.59 d/set), Jolie Hidalgo (2.26 d/set) and Lizzy Low (2.16 d/set) represent the Lady Lions' top defenders along the back line.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern steps outside of conference action for the final time in the regular season at 7 p.m. this coming Tuesday, hosting Southern in the annual Dig the Lions match at the University Center. The first 150 students to the match, Oct. 15, will receive free pulled pork sandwiches and chips sponsored by Mariner's Inn.
 
LAST MATCH
First-place Sam Houston State snapped the Lady Lions' win streak Saturday, 25-16, 25-23, 25-21, in Huntsville, Texas.
 
Edo and Karlee Wilkerson contributed 11 kills apiece to pace the Lady Lion offense. In her first action since Sept. 7 at Southern Illinois, Ariana Hebert handed out 22 assists. Laskoskie dished out an additional 11 for Southeastern.
 
Hidalgo, a freshman from Lafayette, Louisiana, led the Lady Lions with 12 digs. Pratt chipped in another 10 on the defensive end. Edo, a senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, had a hand in six of the team's match-high seven blocks.
