HOUSTON, Texas – A career-high 15 kills from Sam Gomez was not enough for the Lady Lions as Southeastern Louisiana dropped a Southland Conference match in four sets Thursday at Sharp Gym, 16-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-11, to Houston Baptist.
 
The Lady Lions (10-13, 4-5 Southland) claimed the first set behind a near-perfect offensive attack, recording 14 kills against a single attack error in 27 attempts (.481 attack percentage). HBU (13-11, 5-4 Southland) battled back to take a tight second set and carried that momentum the rest of the way.
 
A junior from Mandeville, Louisiana, Gomez topped her previous best in kills (14) set, Sept. 3, in Southeastern's five-set upset win at Tulane. Jodi Edo added 12 kills and her .440 hitting percentage led all Lady Lions recording double-digit attempts.
 
Baylee Laskoskie handed out 42 assists, directing Southeastern's offense, and picked up 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Ryan Maddera served up a pair of aces.
 
Edo also had a hand in six of the Lady Lions' eight team blocks. The senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana ranks fourth in the Southland with 80 total blocks.
 
Five separate players reached double figures in digs for Southeastern, including Lizzy Low (21), Caroline Golden (12), Alexis Pratt (12) and Jolie Hidalgo (10).
