HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team excelled at the plate and in the circle on the way to a 20-1 victory over Coastal Alabama Community College in a 10-inning exhibition Thursday evening at North Oak Park.
The Lady Lions improved to 5-1, scoring in all but one of the innings. SLU held the visitors scoreless in each of the final nine innings.
Southeastern collected 22 hits in the victory.
Lindsey Rizzo (3-for-4) and
Madison Watson (3-for-4) led the Lady Lions at the plate, while
Madisen Blackford (2-for-5),
Ella Manzer (2-for-5), Audrey Greeley (2-for-4) and
Ali McCoy (2-for-3) each had multiple hits.
Blackford and Watson each homered and posted four RBI. Manzer and
Briahna Bennett each had three RBI for the Lady Lions. Rizzo and Blackford led Southeastern with three runs scored, while Watson,
Kelci Bodin,
Cameron Goodman and
Amberlyn Alfano had two runs apiece.
Southeastern, which has led Division I in stolen bases in each of the previous four seasons, stole 13 bases on the night. Rizzo led SLU with three steals, while Greely swiped two bags.
