MOBILE, Ala. – Southeastern Louisiana dropped a pair of matches Friday in Jag Gym during the opening day of action at the Jaguar Invitational.
 
The Lady Lions (1-7) fell to host South Alabama (2-5), 25-14, 25-14, 25-19, before dropping their final match of the day, 25-15, 25-23, 25-18, to Louisiana Tech (2-7).
 
Against the Jaguars, sophomore Tempestt Vaughn (Beaumont, Texas) led Southeastern with seven kills, recording a .462 attack percentage in 13 attempts. Maddy Katchen (Fox River Grove, Illinois) and Elyssa Purcell (Alvin, Texas) contributed five kills apiece.
 
Splitting setting duties, Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland) dished out a team-leading 14 assists and Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) handed out another 10 for the Lady Lions. Vaughn served up the team's only ace of the match.
 
Lexie Torres (San Antonio, Texas) tallied seven digs, leading Southeastern. Sam Gomez (Mandeville, Louisiana) had a hand in five of the Lady Lions' blocks, including three solo blocks.
 
The Jaguars (.351) out-hit Southeastern (.073) to clinch the sweep. In the second match, Louisiana Tech (.230) also out-hit the Lady Lions (.111).

Jodi Edo (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) posted nine kills against the Bulldogs, leading the way for the Southeastern offense. Caroline Golden (Mandeville, Louisiana) added seven more kills and also served up three aces. Mirarchi distributed 14 assists and Baker handed out an additional 13 for the Lady Lions.
 
Torres picked up another 10 digs, leading the way defensively in the second match. Alexis Pratt (Houston, Texas) and Mirarchi each contributed eight digs to the defensive effort. Gomez had a hand in six of the Lady Lions' 10 team blocks.
