CONWAY, Ark. – Southeastern Louisiana heads back out on the road for three Southland Conference volleyball matches this week, kicking off the trip Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Central Arkansas in the Prince Center.
 
The Lady Lions (1-11, 0-1 Southland) will also play Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Thibodaux, Louisiana against Nicholls (2-13, 0-2 Southland) and Saturday in New Orleans, Louisiana against the UNO (7-9, 1-1 Southland).
 
Central Arkansas (10-4, 0-1 Southland) dropped its conference opener Saturday in three sets at Stephen F. Austin.

SLU NOTES

• Elyssa Purcell (2.05 kills/set), Caroline Golden (1.82 k/s) and Maddy Katchen (1.73 k/s) lead Southeastern's offensive attack under the direction of setters Haley Baker (3.83 a/s) and Michelle Mirarchi (3.49 assists/set). Mirarchi leads the team with 11 service aces.
• The Lady Lion defense is anchored by Lexie Torres (3.17 digs/set), Golden (2.30 d/s) and Alexis Pratt (1.95 d/s). Up front, Sam Gomez (0.92 blocks/set), Tempestt Vaughn (0.71 b/s), Purcell (0.50 b/s) and Jo Simovic (0.42 b/s) lead the blocking corps.
• Southeastern has compiled a .105 attack percentage while opponents are hitting at a .272 clip.

 
OPPONENT NOTES

• Samantha Anderson (3.49 k/s), Haley Tippett (2.96 k/s), Savannah Allen (2.52 k/s) and Elizabeth Armstrong (8.25 a/s) pace the Sugar Bears' offensive attack. Amanda Dimon leads the squad with 19 service aces.
• Emily Doss (4.25 d/s) and Tippett (2.98 d/s) are Central Arkansas' top defenders along the back line. Allen (0.96 b/s) and Amari Mitchell (0.76 b/s) lead the blocking corps.
• The Sugar Bears own the second-highest attack percentage (.226) in the Southland and have held opponents to a .188 percentage.

LAST MATCH
Incarnate Word rebounded from a setback in the first set to fly past Southeastern Louisiana in four, 23-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-19, in the Lady Lions' Southland Conference opener Saturday at the University Center.
 
Purcell (Alvin, Texas) recorded 11 kills for the third time in her last four matches to lead the Lady Lions' offensive attack. Golden (Mandeville, Louisiana) added eight kills, while Gomez (Mandeville, Louisiana) and Vaughn (Beaumont, Texas) chipped in six and five, respectively.
 
Vaughn (.417) and Gomez (.353) each turned in one of their better hitting performances of the season. Neither player was charged with an attack error despite reaching double-digit attempts.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern heads back out on the road for a non-conference match at Jackson State, Oct. 2, before returning to the University Center for a Southland matchup with Stephen F. Austin (Oct. 4) on National Taco Day.
