HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana opens Southland Conference volleyball action Saturday at 1 p.m. in the University Center, matching up against Incarnate Word.
The Lady Lions (1-10, 0-0 Southland) have won two of the previous five matches against UIW (2-9, 0-1 Southland).
Admission is free and fans are asked to enter the arena down the ramp at Gate 3. Volleyball posters, magnet schedules and roster sheets will be available in the Fan Zone on the arena floor.

MATCHUP NOTES
- Elyssa Purcell (1.97 kills/set), Maddy Katchen (1.79 k/s) and Caroline Golden (1.79 k/s) lead Southeastern's offensive attack under the direction of setters Michelle Mirarchi (3.59 assists/set) and Haley Baker (3.58 a/s). Mirarchi leads the team with 11 service aces.
- The Lady Lion defense is anchored by Lexie Torres (3.08 digs/set), Golden (2.28 d/s) and Alexis Pratt (1.94 d/s). Up front, Sam Gomez (0.88 blocks/set), Tempestt Vaughn (0.70 b/s), Purcell (0.53 b/s) and Jo Simovic (0.41 b/s) lead the blocking corps.
- Southeastern has compiled a .109 attack percentage while opponents are hitting at a .270 clip.
- Bethany Clapp (3.11 k/s), Autumn Lockley (3.11 k/s) and Julia Monday (2.43 k/s) pace the UIW offense with help from setters Kendall Kilchrist (7.52 a/s) and Pilar Gonzaba (6.40 a/s). Clapp also leads the team with nine service aces.
- Madelynn Miller (4.41 d/s) and Lockley (2.81 d/s) are the Cardinals top defenders along the back line. Carissa McGarity(0.92 b/s), Emily Perez (0.63 b/s) and Clapp (0.57 b/s) lead the blocking corps.
- UIW has compiled a .185 attack percentage as a team. Opponents are hitting at a .248 clip against the Cardinals.
LAST MATCH
Southeastern Louisiana fell Tuesday in heartbreaking fashion at Southern as the Lady Jaguars pulled away in the fifth and final set for the win, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-6, at Clifford Seymour Gym in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Southern rebounded to knock off the Lady Lions, who defeated the Lady Jags earlier this season in four sets, Aug. 25, at the Troy Invitational in Troy, Alabama.
Purcell (Alvin, Texas) led Southeastern with 11 kills and had a hand in four of the team's six blocks. Golden (Mandeville, Louisiana) chipped in seven kills.
UP NEXT
Southeastern heads back out on the road for four-straight matches, traveling to Central Arkansas (Sept. 25), Nicholls (Sept. 27), New Orleans (Sept. 29) and Jackson State (Oct. 2) before returning to the University Center for a Southland matchup with Stephen F. Austin (Oct. 4).
