BATON ROUGE, La. – Southeastern Louisiana travels to Southern for a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Clifford Seymour Gym.
 
The Lady Lions (1-9) defeated Southern (0-8) in four sets Aug. 25 at the Troy Invitational in Troy, Alabama.

NOTES

• Maddy Katchen (1.91 k/s), Elyssa Purcell (1.94 kills/set) and Caroline Golden (1.88 k/s) lead Southeastern's offensive attack under the direction of setters Michelle Mirarchi (3.76 assists/set) and Haley Baker (3.52 a/s). Mirarchi leads the team with eight service aces.
• The Lady Lion defense is anchored by Lexie Torres (3.15 digs/set), Golden (2.29 d/s) and Alexis Pratt (1.97 d/s). Up front, Sam Gomez (0.88 blocks/set), Tempestt Vaughn (0.72 b/s), Purcell (0.48 b/s) and Jo Simovic (0.44 b/s) lead the blocking corps.
• Southeastern has compiled a .120 attack percentage while opponents are hitting at a .283 clip.

 
OPPONENT

• Shelby Jolly (2.21 k/s), Paige Hall (2.21 k/s) and Vaterra Calais (5.69 a/s) pace the Southern offense. Brianna Hawkins leads the squad with seven aces.
• Baily Jefferson (3.03 d/s) and Khari Woods (2.55 d/s) are the Lady Jags' top defenders along the back line. Hall (0.76 b/s), Hawkins (0.48 b/s) and Xaria Taylor (0.48 b/s) lead the Southern blocking corps.

 
LAST MATCH
Southeastern Louisiana dropped its home opener this past Tuesday in straight sets to Tulane, 25-14, 25-12, 25-10, at the University Center.
 
Southeastern, led in kills by Golden (Mandeville, Louisiana) and Purcell (Alvin, Texas) with three each, turned in a negative attack percentage (-.010) in the match. Baker dished out a team-leading seven assists.
 
Defensively, Gomez had a hand in two of the Lady Lions' three blocks and Torres (San Antonio, Texas) led the team with 10 digs.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern returns to the court again Saturday at 1 p.m. in the University Center, opening Southland Conference play at home against Incarnate Word.
