Box Score

HAMMOND, La. – Ole Miss pitchers Kaitlin Lee and Brittany Finney combined to hold Southeastern Louisiana to two hits on the way to an 8-0 victory in non-conference softball action Wednesday evening at North Oak Park.

Southeastern fell to 12-11 overall with Wednesday's loss. Ole Miss (14-7) collected 11 hits off three SLU pitchers to earn the win. Junior Rebecca Skains and senior Kinsey Nichols were the only Lady Lions to collect hits.

The first three Rebels reached base versus senior Lacey Hill (6-3) in the top of the first inning. Sacrifice flies by Autumn Gillespie and Gabby Alvarez gave the Rebels a 2-0 lead.

Ole Miss added three runs in the second and a run in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead. Lee (9-3) held SLU without a hit, until Skains singled to lead off the fifth. Sophomore Ali McCoy lined into an inning-ending double play to keep the Lady Lions off the board.

The Rebels closed out their scoring in the top of the sixth. A two-run home run by Celeste Wood provided the final 8-0 margin. Nichols managed a double in the bottom of the sixth inning, but was thrown out on the base paths for the final out as Ole Miss enforced the mercy rule.

SLU next heads to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a three-game league series. The series opens with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and concludes with a 12 p.m. contest on Saturday.
