Lions Fall to Mississippi Valley State

ITTA BENA, Miss. – Mississippi Valley State had five players score in double figures in a win over the Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team 69-59 Tuesday night at Harrison HPER Complex.

Despite both teams struggling in the first half shooting, it was a competitive battle between the Lions and Delta Devils with MVSU leading 24-21 at halftime.

The Lions battled in the second half as the game was up for grabs with 5:45 left. MVSU was leading 49-45 but went on a game-clinching 8-0 run to take a 57-45 lead with 3:38 remaining.

Marlain Veal led the Lions with 21 points. Senior
Moses Greenwood added 17 points and 12 rebounds for his second straight double-double.

SLU (2-4) shot just 35 percent (22-for-62) from the field for the game and 50 percent from the free-throw line (7-for-14).
Â
Southeastern, did however, hold an opponent to under 42 percent shooting for the third consecutive game. MVSU shot 26-for-64 for 40.6 percent.

MSVU outrebounded the Lions 46-35 and shot 88 percent from the free-throw line (15-for-17).

SLU will look to bounce back Monday night at home against Louisiana College at 7:30 p.m.
