HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana wraps up the home portion of its 2018 schedule this week with a pair of Southland Conference volleyball matches against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Houston Baptist in the University Center.
The Lady Lions (2-22, 1-10 Southland) host the Islanders of A&M-Corpus Christi (7-18, 6-6 Southland) at 7 p.m. Thursday and finish out the homestand with a 10 a.m. Senior Day match Saturday against HBU (12-14, 5-7 Southland).
Before Saturday's contest,
Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland),
Elyssa Purcell (Alvin, Texas) and
Lexie Torres (San Antonio, Texas) will be honored for their contributions to the program.
Admission to both matches is free and fans are asked to enter the arena down the ramp at Gate 3. Volleyball posters and magnet schedules will be available in the Fan Zone.

OPPONENT NOTES
- Julia Carter (2.57 kills/set), Rachel Young (2.22 k/s), Chloe Simon (2.18 k/s) and Madison Green (7.45 assists/set) pace the Islanders' offensive attack. Green leads the squad with 27 service aces.
- A&M-Corpus Christi has posted a .183 attack percentage. Opponents are hitting .250 against the Islander defense.
- Jenna Krenek (2.79 digs/set), Kaylee Payne (2.64 d/s) and Green (2.45 d/s) are the team's top defenders along the back line, while Sam Dumity (0.69 blocks/set) ranks as the Islanders' top blocking threat.
SLU NOTES
- Jodi Edo (2.05 k/s), Caroline Golden (1.93 k/s), Elyssa Purcell (1.84) and Maddy Katchen (1.65 k/s) lead the Lady Lions' offense under the direction of setters Haley Baker (4.67 a/s) and Michelle Mirarchi (3.66 a/s).
- A sophomore from Mandeville, Louisiana, Golden leads the squad with 18 service aces.
- Southeastern has posted a rapidly-improving .136 attack percentage this season, while opponents are hitting .269 against the Lady Lion defense.
- Lexie Torres (2.99 d/s), Golden (2.35 d/s) and Alexis Pratt (2.23 d/s) anchor the defense along the back line.
- Sam Gomez (0.84 b/s) and Tempestt Vaughn (0.59 b/s) are Southeastern's top blocking threats.
LAST MATCH
Southeastern dropped a hard-fought match to Northwestern State, 25-21, 25-23, 26-24, Saturday in Southland Conference action at the University Center. The Lady Lions endured 11 lead changes and 21 tie scores during the match, leading for a majority of the third set against Northwestern State (9-12, 5-6 Southland).
Jodi Edo (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) led Southeastern with nine kills while
Caroline Golden (Mandeville, Louisiana) added eight. Middle blockers
Sam Gomez (Mandeville) and
Tempestt Vaughn (Beaumont, Texas) combined for 12 kills and just one attack error. Vaughn served up the Lady Lions' only ace, while Gomez had a hand in two of the team's three blocks.
UP NEXT
Southeastern finishes out the season with three matches on the road, including trips to Northwestern State (Nov. 6), McNeese (Nov. 8) and Lamar (Nov. 10).
