HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana returns to the University Center this week to host a pair of Southland Conference volleyball matches, including Thursday's National Taco Day contest against conference-leader Stephen F. Austin.
 
The Lady Lions (1-15, 0-4 Southland) face SFA (17-2, 4-0 Southland) at 7 p.m. Thursday and Central Arkansas (13-4, 3-1 Southland) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
 
Southeastern Athletic Marketing will be distributing one free taco to the first 100 SLU students at Thursday's match courtesy Sarita's Mexican Grill & Cantina.
 
Admission to both matches is free and fans are asked to enter the arena down the ramp at Gate 3. Volleyball posters and magnet schedules will be available in the Fan Zone.

SFA NOTES

• Haley Coleman (2.88 kills/set), Peyton Redmond (2.53 k/s), Danae Daron (2.48 k/s), Ann Hollas (6.40 assists/set) and McKenzie Brewer (4.60 a/s) pace the Ladyjacks' offense. Coleman also leads the squad with 22 aces.
• Sabrina Monaco (3.68 digs/set), Redmond (2.69 d/s) and Hollas (2.32 d/s) are SFA's top defenders along the back line. Daron (1.17 blocks/s), Aniya Williams (1.07 b/s) and Makenzee Hanna (0.91 b/s) lead the Ladyjacks' blocking corps.
• SFA is hitting .253 as a team and holding opponents to a .168 attack percentage.

 
SLU NOTES

• Elyssa Purcell (1.83 k/set), Jodi Edo (1.72 k/s), Caroline Golden (1.72 k/s) and Maddy Katchen (1.72 k/s) lead Southeastern's offensive attack under the direction of setters Haley Baker (3.65 a/s) and Michelle Mirarchi (3.39 a/set). Mirarchi leads the team with 13 service aces.
• The Lady Lion defense is anchored by Lexie Torres (3.30 d/s), Golden (2.22 d/s) and Alexis Pratt (1.82 d/s). Up front, Sam Gomez (0.82 b/s), Tempestt Vaughn (0.62 b/s) and Jo Simovic (0.41 b/s) lead the blocking corps.
• Southeastern has compiled a .116 attack percentage while opponents are hitting at a .271 clip.

 
LAST MATCH
Southeastern dropped a four-set decision at Jackson State, 25-22, 26-24, 16-25, 27-25, Tuesday in non-conference action at T.B. Ellis Gym in Jackson, Mississippi.
 
Katchen led the Lady Lions with 17 kills. Gomez had a hand in three of Southeastern's eight blocks, including a pair of solo blocks. Golden, Mirarchi and Torres each served up an ace.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern continues its homestand next week with a pair of conference matches as part of the annual Homecoming festivities, hosting Lamar (Oct. 11) and McNeese (Oct. 13).
