Lady Lions Begin Second Half of Conference Schedule in Texas

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana embarks on a three-match road trip, kicking it off with Southland Conference contests at Sam Houston State and Abilene Christian this weekend.
 
The Lady Lions (2-18, 1-7 Southland) travel to Sam Houston State (15-5, 7-1 Southland) for at 6:30 p.m. match Thursday that will be available on ESPN3.
 
Saturday's contest at Abilene Christian (10-10, 7-1 Southland) gets underway at 1 p.m. A video stream of the match will be provided through the Wildcats' website.

Both Abilene Christian and Sam Houston State sit one game back of conference-leader Stephen F. Austin (21-2, 8-0 Southland), tied for second place in the standings halfway through the Southland slate.
 
OPPONENT NOTES
  • Taylor Cunningham (3.93 kills/set), Breanne Chausse (2.50 k/s), Caroline Sheaff (2.17 k/s) and Jaclyn Ward (8.51 assists/set) pace the Sam Houston State offense. Madison Wallace leads the squad with 30 service aces.
  • The Bearkats are hitting .211 on the attack, while holding opponents to a .144 attack percentage.
  • Wallace (4.48 digs/set), Cunningham (3.29 d/s) and Addison Miller (2.78 d/set) are Sam Houston State's top defenders along the back line. Cunningham (1.06 blocks/set) is also the team's leading blocker.

LAST MATCH
Southeastern Louisiana took the opening set in convincing fashion this past Saturday, but McNeese bounced back to claim the final three sets and a Southland Conference win, 16-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-23, at the University Center.
 
Edo (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) led the Lady Lions with a career-best 13 kills. Katchen (Fox River Grove, Illinois) added eight more. Baker (Elkton, Maryland) handed out 25 assists and Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) dished out another 17 for Southeastern. Torres (San Antonio, Texas) served up a pair of aces while Mirarchi and Pratt (Houston, Texas) each contributed one.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern wraps up its three-match road trip Tuesday at Southern Miss. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The Lady Lions then return to the University Center for their final homestand of the season, which begins Oct. 27 against Northwestern State and also features conference matches Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Nov. 1) and Houston Baptist (Nov. 3).
