HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Sam Houston State made a pair of first-half goals stand up in a 2-0 Southland Conference win over Southeastern Louisiana at Pritchett Field Sunday afternoon.
Freshman goalkeeper
Michaela Hawthorn had six saves for Southeastern (3-9-3, 1-5-2 Southland). Junior defender
Christina Cutura took a team-high four shots.
Beryl Smith scored her sixth goal of the season while Sammi Mayock netted her second for Sam Houston (6-7-1, 3-4-1 Southland). Bailey Strong and Carlota-Suarez Crespo had assists. Christina Hendershot made three saves.
Mayock gave Sam Houston a 1-0 lead in the 26
th minute after heading in a free kick by Strong.
Smith lobbed a shot over Hawthorn from the top of the box after taking a pass from Suarez Crespo to push the lead to 2-0 in the 35
th minute.
