BEAUMONT, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana made a season-high 13 three-point field goals, but Southland Conference co-leader Lamar countered with a dominating inside presence on the way to an 86-68 victory over the Lady Lions in league women's basketball action Saturday afternoon in the University Center.
Southeastern fell to 3-12 overall and 1-3 in Southland Conference play with the loss. Lamar (10-3, 3-0 Southland) extended its winning streak to nine games after forcing SLU into 32 turnovers and outscoring the Lady Lions in the paint, 52-11.
The 13 three's topped the previous season-high set by the Lady Lions in a 75-63 victory over Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 25. Freshman guard

Underwood scored 20-plus points for the third straight game on the way to recording her second double-double of the season with 22 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. The junior from Livingston, Louisiana native was joined in double figures by Dugas (12 points) and Warren (11 points).
Underwood and Scholvin also shared team-high honors with five assists. The Lady Lions matched a season-high with 14 steals, as Warren, Scholvin and freshman guard
Taz Stinson were credited with three apiece.
Lamar was led by Moe Kinard, who topped three Cardinals in double figures with 31 points. Kiandra Bowers added 20 points and 13 rebounds in a double-double effort, while Kiara Desamours netted 14 points. Chastadie Barrs narrowly fell short of a triple-double with nine points, nine rebounds and a game-high nine assists.
Lamar used a 13-0 run to take an early 15-2 lead. Southeastern could not get the deficit under single digits in the opening period and went into the second quarter down, 25-13.
Southeastern gradually chipped into the Cardinal lead in the second quarter. The Lady Lions made six threes in the period, as a trey by Dugas cut the Lamar lead to 38-35 with 3:27 remaining in the half. However, Lamar closed out the period with a 7-0 run to go into the break with a 45-35 lead.
Any chance of a Southeastern comeback was ended in the third quarter, as Lamar outscored the Lady Lions, 15-5, to open the period to stretch the lead to 60-40. The lead would grow to as many as 21 and Southeastern would get no closer than 14 the rest of the way.
