BEAUMONT, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana could not overcome a 34–point effort by Lamar's Colton Weisbrod as the Cardinals pulled away early for a 74-54 victory in Southland Conference action Saturday afternoon.
Southeastern (9-8, 2-2) dropped its third straight road conference game dating back to the 2015-16 season and its second straight overall on its current three-game road trip. The Lions close out the trip at Abilene Christian Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Jabbar Singleton led Southeastern with 13 points while sophomore forward

James Currington also had five rebounds each. The Lions out-rebounded Lamar 36-34 but shot 35.7 percent from the field and had a season-high 22 turnovers.
Weisbrod's points were the most by a Southeastern opponent since UT Martin's Myles Taylor scored 34 in an 80-76 Lions victory on Dec. 21, 2013. Weisbrod also added eight rebounds for Lamar (10-6, 2-1) . Torey Noel contributed nine points while Josh Nzeakor had eight rebounds and five blocks. The Cardinals shot 52.7 percent from the field, including 45.5 percent on 3-pointers.
Weisbrod got 25 of his points and Lamar shot 64.3 percent from the field as the Cardinals took an 18-point lead into the break.
The Cardinals got out to a 9-4 lead on Joey Frenchwood's 3-pointer from the top of the key at the 16:40 mark. Noel took a steal in to make it 14-8 with 12:26 left. But Veal drove in from the right side and Greenwood added a tip-in to get the Lions to within 14-12 with 11 minutes remaining.
Lamar went on a 16-4 run over the next 6:22 with a pair of Weisbrod three-point plays sandwiched around a Greenwood hook making it 24-16 at the eight-minute mark. Zjori Bosha then took a steal in for a 30-16 lead with 5:38 left.
Junior guard
Davon Hayes lofted a pass to Veal for a dunk and Currington added a putback during a 6-0 Southeastern run to cut the margin to 30-22 with 4:49 left. But Nick Garth answered with a 3, Weisbrod ran off six straight points and Garth buried another 3 with 3 seconds left to give the Cardinals a 44-26 halftime advantage.
Southeastern opened the second half with a 7-0 run to pull to within 44-33 on a Veal layup with 17:54 left. But Frenchwood responded with a jumper, Weisbrod followed with a three-point play and Bosha hit a 3 to extend the lead back to 52-33 at the 16:05 mark.
Singleton knocked down a 3 with 13:08 but Southeastern went 4:14 before its next field goal, a jumper by Greenwood that made it 63-45 with 8:54 left. A Noel 3 gave Lamar a 72-48 lead with 5:45 left. Two Cameron McGee free throws gave the Cardinals their biggest advantage at 74-49 at the 1:58 mark.
