SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – Prolific outside shooting and rebounding dominance allowed Incarnate Word to pull away for a 96-56 victory over Southeastern Louisiana in Southland Conference women's basketball action Thursday evening in the McDermott Convocation Center.
The Lady Lions (3-15, 1-6 Southland) dropped their fourth straight game, as UIW (5-13, 3-4 Southland) completed the season sweep of SLU. The Cardinals were able to earn the victory thanks to a 61-33 rebounding advantage and 13 three-point field goals.
SLU trailed by just one after a competitive first quarter, but Incarnate Word outscored Southeastern, 24-11, in the second quarter to take a 14-point halftime lead. A 17-0 run early in the third quarter ended any chance of a SLU comeback, as the Cardinal lead grew to as many as 45 in the waning minutes.

Tyler Morrison shared team-high honors with three assists.

Courtney Dawsey led SLU with a career-high seven rebounds. Southeastern finished with 10 steals, marking the fourth straight game the Lady Lions have posted double-digit steals. Underwood was credited with a team-high three steals, while Morrison and fellow freshman guard
Taz Stinson recorded two steals apiece.
Celia Garcia Paunero led the way for UIW, posting a double-double with 24 points and 24 rebounds to go with five blocked shots and four steals. Paunero was one of two Cardinals with double-doubles, as Imani Robinson came off the bench for 20 points and 11 rebounds.
In all six Cardinals scored in double figures, as Melina Merritt (16 points), Haley Frias (12 points), Cheyenne Berry (11 points) and Alexandra Busby-Leija (10 points) contributed to the balanced UIW scoring ledger. Merritt also dished out a game-high eight assists to lead the Cardinals.
