LOGAN, Utah – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball squad dropped a pair of matches Friday, 25-18, 25-20, 25-17, to Portland State and, 25-18, 25-23, 25-19, to UC Riverside on the first day of the USU Invitational presented by Gossner Foods.
The Lady Lions (1-7) play their final match of the tournament against host Utah State (3-4) Friday at 2 p.m. Central. Live stats as well as a free video stream of Friday's match, provided by the Mountain West Network, are linked on the volleyball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
Following the USU Invitational, Southeastern next takes to the court Sept. 16 at Purdue in the Stacey Clark Classic where the Lady Lions will face a pair of ranked opponents. Southeastern will finally return to the University Center Sept. 22 when they open Southland Conference play against Lamar.
MATCH ONE: Portland State 3, Southeastern 0
Portland State (5-2) posted nine blocks in three sets, sweeping past Southeastern in the tournament's first match.
As strong as the Viking defense was in the match, their offense also clicked on the way to a .330 team attack percentage.
Parrie Hartley, a senior from Columbus, Texas, led the the Lady Lions with 10 kills and a .300 attack percentage.
Landry Bullock, a senior from Spring, Texas, contributed nine kills and
Chloee Holden, a freshman from Alvin, Texas, added eight kills.
Setter
Haley Baker, a sophomore from Elkton, Maryland, dished out 34 assists, one shy of the match high.
Libero
Monica Ramon, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, tied the match high with 14 digs and
Macey Stock, a sophomore from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, chipped in an additional nine digs for Southeastern.
Pati Anae led all players with 15 kills and Erin Clark handed out 35 assists to help pace the Viking attack. Clark also picked up 10 digs for a double-double. Tasha Bojanic led Portland State with 14 digs.

The first two sets were tightly contested. UC Riverside (4-4) and the Lady Lions fought through 11 tie scores and three lead changes in the first set alone.
Southeastern and the Highlanders found themselves with eight more tie scores, and three lead changes, in the second set.
Hartley once again led the the Lady Lions, tallying 11 kills, while
Rachael Bunn, a senior from San Juan Capistrano, added eight kills. Baker handed out a match-high 35 assists.
Madi Odom, a senior from Kingwood, Texas, led Southeastern with 12 digs and Ramon chipped in another 11.
Cristina Maietta led UC Riverside with 11 kills, while Meg Graham contributed an additional eight kills. Chelsea Doyle turned in a double-double performance with 26 assists and 12 digs. Kristie Alejo led the team with 14 digs.
