SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana sophomore
Payton Colson scored her first collegiate goal but Incarnate Word netted a pair of goals in a four-minute span in the second half to take a 2-1 Southland Conference victory Friday night.
Colson scored off a deflection late in the first half to give Southeastern (4-5-1, 1-1-0 Southland) a 1-0 lead. She finished with a team-high three shots, all on goal. Senior

Hope Sabadash made five saves while facing 16 shots.
"We did a good job in the first half of putting pressure on the back line and created a goal," Southeastern head coach
Blake Hornbuckle said. In the second half, we had some opportunities in front of the goal and couldn't find the net."
Incarnate Word (2-5-1, 1-1-0) picked up its first win over the Lady Lions in four tries. Sophomore Sam Batley scored her first two goals of the season while taking three shots on goal. Freshman Brooke Hanson had her first assist of the year. Sophomore Sydney Huntsinger and junior Haley Nelson each played a half in net. Nelson played the final 45 minutes, making four saves while facing six shots. Huntsinger allowed a goal and made one save on four shots faced.
Southeastern broke through in the 31
st minute after Huntsinger had a clearing pass deflect off Peacock. Colson converted the turnover, giving the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead.
Sabadash saved a shot by Hanson but sophomore
Christina Cutura was called for a foul in the box in the 55
th minute. Batley converted the penalty kick, tying the match at 1.
Cutura sent a header wide in the 57
th minute. UIW then countered with Batley knocking in the rebound from 15 yards out after Hanson hit the crossbar, putting the Cardinals up 2-1 in the 59
th minute.

Nelson saved a header by Colson in the final seconds to preserve the win.
Sabadash saved a shot by junior Karey Tylman in the 15
th minute of the match. After senior Abigail Koenigs had a shot blocked, Tylman missed wide in the 21
st minute.
The UIW defense blocked a shot by Marinero in the 25
th minute before Sabadash saved a header by sophomore Shelbi Miller in the 30
th minute. Koenigs had a shot blocked, then sent the rebound wide in the 34
th minute.
Huntsinger saved another shot by Colson in the 42
nd minute. Junior
Kim Porche then missed wide after taking a corner from Arzaluz in the final seconds of the opening half.
Nelson saved a header by Kresevic in the 52
nd minute.
Koenigs missed wide in the 63
rd minute before Sabadash saved a shot by Batley two minutes later. Junior Nikki Popa and Tylman missed wide on shots in the final nine minutes.
Southeastern travels to Abilene Christian on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Wildcats (3-6-1, 2-0-0) defeated Nicholls, 2-1, in overtime Friday night.
