WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 14-ranked Purdue volleyball squad was too much for Southeastern Louisiana, as the Lady Lions dropped a pair of matches Friday at the Stacey Clark Classic.
Southeastern (1-10) fell to host Purdue (8-1) in the tournament's opening match, 25-15, 25-11, 25-17, and to Xavier (6-6) in three straight, 25-14, 25-15, 25-21.
The Lady Lions close out the tournament Saturday at 12 p.m. CDT against No. 4-ranked Kansas (10-0). Last season the Jayhawks advanced to the Final Four.

Following the tournament Southeastern finally returns to the University Center, opening Southland Conference play Sept. 22 against Lamar with the annual Dig the Lions match.

Facing its first ranked opponent in several seasons, Southeastern fell to Purdue in straight sets.
Rachael Bunn, a senior from San Juan Capistrano, California, led the Lady Lions with five kills. She also recorded a pair of blocks, one solo. Freshmen
Elyssa Purcell and
Chloee Holden, both from Alvin, Texas, contributed four kills apiece. Purcell joined
Haley Baker, a sophomore from Elkton, Maryland, in handing out eight assists each.

Monica Ramon, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, recorded a team-high seven digs.
Danielle Cuttino led all players with 11 kills and Ashley Evans dished out a match-high 20 assists for Purdue. Natalie Haben (12) and Carissa Damler (10) each posted double-figure dig totals for the Boilermakers.

Xavier rebounded from a five-set loss to Kansas earlier in the day to sweep past Southeastern.
Parrie Hartley, a senior from Columbus, Texas, picked up seven kills to pace the Lady Lion offensive attack, while Holden added five. Purcell dished out a team-high 14 assists. Ramon and
Macey Stock, a sophomore from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, each recorded five digs to lead Southeastern.
Abby Bessler and Kristen Massa both tallied a match-high 11 kills. Sofia Peterson chipped in nine more for Xavier. McKena Estes and Mackenzi Humm each handed out 15 assists.
The Musketeers posted 10 team blocks and Alexis Newsome had a hand in eight of them, one solo. Meredith Klare led all players with 10 digs.
