Nicholls Snaps Lion Win Streak

Colonels hold Southeastern to season-low point total

THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls snapped Southeastern Louisiana's 4-game winning streak Saturday, downing the Lions, 64-45, in Southland Conference play at Stopher Gym.

The Colonels (10-22, 6-12 Southland) held Southeastern (11-20, 9-9 Southland) to its lowest offensive output of the season.

Moses Greenwood scored the first bucket of the game, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead at the 18:47 mark.

Jonathan Bell answered with a 3-pointer exactly two minutes later to give the Colonels their first lead, 3-2.

Zay Jackson countered with a layup 12 seconds later, putting the Lions back up, but Nicholls regained the lead on a Liam Thomas jumper at the 15:30 mark.

Southeastern rallied to tie the game, 9-9, on a Jordan Capps layup at the 10:59 mark. When Ja'Dante' Frye nailed a jumper with 9:38 to play in the first half, the Colonels never looked back.

Capps led the Lions with 11 points and eight rebounds. Dimi Cook chipped in eight points.

Southeastern shot 32.7 percent (16-of-49) from the floor, including 33.3 percent (4-of-12) from 3-point range. The Lions converted 9-of-23 (39.1 percent) from the free throw line.

Adam Ward led all players with 17 points, going a perfect 8-of-8 from the floor. Kyle Caudill added 10 points to the Colonels' offensive efforts. Despite going just 1-of-8 from the floor, T.J. Carpenter led all players with 10 rebounds.

Nicholls shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56) from the floor, including 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from 3-point range. The Colonels converted 15-of-25 (60.0 percent) from the free throw line and out-rebounded the Lions, 44-35.
